Ian has been involved with building finance for almost 20 years.  He started his career as a mortgage broker while living in Indianapolis, Indiana in the early 1990's, and quickly started designing mortgage products that were later adopted by Fannie Mae - the chartered regulator of mortgages in the US.

When Ian returned to NZ in 1997, he was involved with setting up instore banking, the precurser of todays' mall bank branches.  By 1999, he was again designing mortgage product.  His focus was in construction lending, and NewBuild has now been in business in New Zealand since then.

Ian is Mortgage Chair for the Professional Advisors Association (PAA), and is on various committees involved with the regulating of financial services in NZ.   "Financial services is a profession, and with better education and regulation, New Zealanders should grow in confidence that their investment, insurance or mortgage works for them - no surprises". 

Ian maintains that working through a professional advisor can provide better advice than going directly to a bank or insurance company whose main motivation has to be their own profitability.

Ian and his wife, Monica, and three boys, live on a 200 acre farm (with his toys - a digger, bull dozer and tractor) north of Auckland.
